Old Testament Snapshot

The Bible is not just one book, but an entire library, with stories, songs, poetry, letters and history, as well as literature that might more obviously qualify as 'religious'.

The Christian Bible has two sections, the Old Testament (= covenant or agreement), with 39 books (taking up 75% of the Bible), and the New Testament, with 27 books. As Christians we believe in the Old Testament (OT) and New Testament (NT).

The Old Testament is the original Hebrew Bible, the sacred scriptures of the Jewish faith, written at different times between about 1200 and 165 BC.

God has spoken to mankind through the Old Testament, revealing Himself through His dealings with the Patriarchs and the nation of Israel.

The purpose of taking a snapshot of the Old Testament is to understand about God and His redemptive work.
